Tight loss against Alba for Valkyries

The fourth match of the 2018/19 season was to be played in Lausanne against the Alba ladies’ team, who are competing for first time in the LNF A. For anyone who has ever seen a rugby game, it is evident that the sport is madness with method in it. Sadly, in the first fifteen minutes of this match, the madness was more prominent. The team from Würizüri struggled to play in unison and their game was rather chaotic. However, after some time the ladies could find their team spirit and especially the backs proved that they had practised their passing. It became clear that Lausanne was as eager to win the game as the Valkyries when they scored the first try with conversion after about half an hour. This motivated the team from Würenlos and Zurich to fight back hard. They defended with all their strength and the forwards delivered some low and bone-crushing scrums.

Despite the great effort of the Valkyries, Alba managed to score another try with conversion twenty minutes into the second half. The team from Lausanne was strong in the ruck and their backs were furiously fast. This was though luck for Würizüri but they would not give up. In the last few minutes, Géraldine secured a try for the Valkyries and showed everyone on the pitch what endurance is. Unfortunately, that was not enough and Lausanne won 14:5. Nevertheless, the Valkyries have reasons to be proud of themselves. Two of them played their first ever fifteens game: Tatjana and Christina. Both played as backs. Tatjana showed her tackling skills and took down several Lausanne ladies. Christina blended in perfectly with the backline and was strong in defence. After this loss, the Würizüri team have to prepare for their next game on the 28th of October against Nyon/Monthey in Zurich. They know now where they have to improve and will work hard in order to win next weekend.

Ab big thank you goes out to the Alba ladies from Lausanne for their hospitality and the lovely third half after the game. Géraldine and Monica I. were deservedly honoured as players of the game.
