Valkyries lose away against CERN Wildcats
On Saturday, the Valkyries were welcomed by the Cern Wildcats on their pitch in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, where they were to play the first game of the season. The team made their journey from Zurich as a newly formed Entente with the ladies of the Rugby Club Würenlos. The Wildcats from Geneva, who had won the last season NLF A championship, proved to be a worthy competitor. They scored two tries in the first half and one more in the second half winning the game 17:0. However, the Valkyries had many reasons to be proud. For a lot of them, it was their first ever fifteens game. Vanessa Rüegg, Susanne Epprecht, and Jana Landolt all had their premiere in the NLF A and made valuable contributions in the course of the game. The team was also happy to have Petra Tretter back on the team after a longer break. With only one substitute player, the team showed great skill in defending and came close to scoring for more than one time. An honourable mention also goes out to Rahel Bosshard and Bina Walti who were named players of the game. Many thanks to the Cern Wildcats for hosting this game and the rich buffet afterwards.
