GC Rugby Announcement

In light of the recent surge in cases of Covid-19 and in order to try to limit the spread of the virus within the Swiss rugby community the committee has taken the difficult decision to inform the FSR that we will not be playing any further part in this half of the season. We have already had 3 men's games and 2 ladies games postponed due to Covid and feel the current situation is untenable. We also do not want to ask our players to undertake the burden of travelling to away matches with increased risk of infection, or to make the choice between playing rugby and protecting themselves from the virus.

While we understand players enthusiasm to keep playing we feel that the current risk of infection to players and their families and friends is too great to continue.

There are no repercussions for the club in terms of penalties from the FSR in taking this decision and we will reassess the situation in the spring with the hope that we can return to playing the second half of the season.

We will continue training as long as state and cantonal guidelines allow so that players can at least enjoy some rugby during this difficult time but will be enforcing any social-distancing or hygiene measures as required. More details on training will be communicated by the respective club captains.
